The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF) is a practical-based qualification intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment, and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (i.e. workshop, classroom or other training environment)
The Level 3 certificate provides a pathway for learners to understand assessment methods and processes and techniques. Once all units have been achieved you will be a qualified assessor, enabling you to assess in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding. Please note that this qualification has replaced the A1 Assessor Award.
One of the main benefits of completing this award is that it provides a 'threshold license to practice', a requirement within current legislation for all those teaching/training within the Learning and Skills Sector.
This award will enable you to work in a teaching function and progress on to a broader teaching qualification. This award has and continues to be a mandatory requirement for any new teacher/trainer who teaches on publicly funded provision and must be completed within the first 12 months of employment.
Depends on study mode (there will also be 4 hours per learner for external observations)
Once you have completed this course you will be prepared to teach adults in your chosen field. It can also come in as an excellent qualification for youth work or anyone providing training and support to others. This can also lead onto Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) at the college.
