What are the right qualifications for me?
You may have found that there is a huge variety of courses and training available, we understand that this can be very confusing when making a decision. We are here to answer any questions you may have and offer support and guidance throughout your learning experience.
We offer two levels of qualification:
- Vocational Training Charitable Trust Qualifications (NVQs)
- The Guild of Beauty Therapists Accredited Courses (Diplomas)
Halls of Ivy Diploma
The Guild of Beauty Therapists has accredited and recognises our Halls of Ivy Diploma courses. Our diplomas offer a working qualification that will allow our graduates to gain insurance and begin working straight away. Accredited courses have no additional fees and therefore may appeal as they are more affordable and can be achieved in one to two days. You will be asked to complete case studies as part of your diploma.
VTCT NVQ
Our NVQs are awarded by VTCT, who have been established for over 40 years. VTCT are the major awarding body in the UK for S/NVQs in Beauty Therapy. National Vocational Qualifications are nationally recognised qualifications and have a particular structure and design.
NVQs follow a similar format for all occupational and vocational sectors. The award of an NVQ demonstrates that the student has sufficient skill and knowledge to perform job roles effectively in his/her occupational area.
NVQ Assessment
The qualification is achieved through continuous assessment in both theory and practical treatments which are undertaken at the academy using practical assessments. You will build a portfolio of practical assessments and theoretical assignments.
What about Insurance?
Upon successful completion of the course, either a Halls of Ivy Diploma or VTCT NVQ is awarded. This will allow the therapist to apply for insurance and membership to professional bodies. It is vital that you choose an accredited course; this will allow you to gain insurance to work as a therapist within the industry.
Do I need a kit to train with?
The Academy provides equipment, consumables and materials for training. If you choose an NVQ course, you will need to purchase a kit of equipment, which you will need to bring to training sessions. Students will also be expected to wear suitable clothing or a uniform for all courses. We also offer training kits for you to purchase upon completion of any course. All kits can be purchased from Halls of Ivy.
